goals and hopeful achievements for 2012

Last year my friends and I wrote down a list of achievements or goals that we (individually) wished to complete or things that we wanted to do over the course of the year. We all know that resolutions don't work out... so this was a fun idea and it worked out well. There isn't any rules to writing your list... but I always try to add a few fun easy accomplishments too.

so here is my list for 2012...

If you haven't made a list... you should try it!! And if you have, then what are a few things that you added for 2012?
XOXO

Andrea's Top 10 Reads of 2011

So here you have it- in no particular order I've listed my favorite 10 books which were released in 2011 that I read. There were some books I didn't get a chance to read that came out this year, that were a huge hit, but I'll be sure to blog about those when I get the chance to read them. :-)  And of course many more I read that should/could be added to list.. but I'm trying my hardest to stick with 10!!

Click the pictures to read my review!!

Review to come soon :-)

What are your best reads of 2011? Same or different than mine-- I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts.
2011 has been a wonderful year. Thank you to Casey and Haylee for making me a part of the Dark Readers team, its been a fun year reviewing with both of you. Thank you to the Publishers for generously sending ARCS and books to be reviewed. Thank you to the authors who let us into their minds and escape to another world for a short period of time :-) Last but NOT least, thank you thank you to the followers who make all of what we do totally worth it! There isn't anything better than being able tell others about an amazing book!
I look forward to seeing what 2012 brings.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

So the Christina Perri song A Thousand Years which will be featured on the movie Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn was released at midnight last night! The song is absolutely beautiful and the video made for it is just stunning- sums up the entire Twilight series in almost 5 mins.

So I spent some time making screen caps of the video-

These are just a few-- there are about 140 screen caps total.

Review: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Big thanks to Pattinson Post for asking me to do a guest review of The Night Circus over on their blog- Click HERE to visit Pattinson Post!

Title: The Night Circus
Author: Erin Morgenstern
Publisher: Doubleday
Date Published: September 13, 2011
Pages: 387

Synopsis:
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des RĂªves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.
True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Review: Happy Book Birthday!! Ever since listening to a short interview that Erin Morgenstern did with Comicon radio The Night Circus was a book I couldn't wait to get my hands on! And today it is FINALLY out for others to read and I hope you enjoy this novel as much as I did...

Once you enter the first page, do not intend to leave the circus- one like you've never experienced before- until the very last line is read. And even then, this story will carry on with you-I know it did me. The magic that wavers through the writing and every sentence is magnificent. The thought and knowledge the the author, Erin Morgenstern put into The Night Circus is vivid! The plot is deep, with a idea of simplicity, and a storyline that will blow you away. The way Erin describes the circus blew me away. The reader feels as if they have taken a step through those iron gates, and into the striped tents. From the sights and sounds to even the smells, every minute detail is explained.

The Night Circus is a book that you will not want to put down!

The characters in this book are complex...  the love of the circus is something that each of them have in common- but for some, it is magic that binds them together. In this book, the way that the author introduces each of these characters and brings them all together is rather complex. There are three different stories being told;two of those characters (Marco and Celia) do not know that they are training for a "game", let alone do they know who their competitor is. Both Marco and Celia are characters that anyone can love very easily, their magic and talents alone draws any readers attention. I wasn't disappointed at all with how their story plays out- although there are leaps and bounds that every character has to endure- their love never fails.

Bailey, who's a young boy and the third story in this book, comes into play very nicely. His story is separate from all the other characters in the book- not having any role in the actual circus, he is just a boy who falls in love with the circus and the circus falls in love with him.

The Night Circus is a novel that will most definitely be passed down from generation to generation. With that being said, I believe it is ideal for any age group who has an interest in fictional writing. Or someone who wants to take a break from everyday life, jump into a good book, and explore what this circus has to offer ;-) You won't be disappointed!
